Last month I had the opportunity to speak to a large group of international students about social media.
During our workshop, I asked the students to tell me which social media platforms they used the most. There were students from El Salvador, Korea, Japan, Taiwan, China, and Spain. Next we looked up how many users each platform reported, and how this compared to the usage represented in the class and to the top social media platforms in Canada.
This was a learning experience for me just as much as it was for the students. For example, over 1/3 of the class used Line regularly – and I hadn’t even heard of it!
